Episode 4: The Mortal Instruments

Three for Tea

"The best way to spread Christmas cheer, is singing loud for all to hear."

In honor of Christmas, (and Buddy the Elf), we turn our discussion towards all things holiday related such as Winter Tea, Holiday Albums and, of course, hunting demons.

Listen in as we have an in-depth discussion of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, sing some of our favorite "classic" Christmas songs and hilariously get interrupted during recording, despite our "DO NOT DISTURB" sign. Excitement, laughter and *Spoilers* are all present in this episode!
(NO pun intended).

xoxo,

The Gypsy, the Pirate and the Evil Queen.

This past weekend we attended the Northern California Renaissance Fair in Gilroy. It was Julienne's third time, my second time and Kristal's first time going. And all I can say is:
"GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!" We went with our friend, and future podcast special guest Molly, and each of us dressed up in very different characters that truly fit our personalities perfectly.

Molly was a dark fairy which suited her love of glitter and tutu's, her angelic face, multiple piercings and RAVE-attending nature.

Kristal dressed as a pirate. Her ruthless, no non-sense, sassy self was perfectly portrayed in the form of Captain Cut-throat.

Julienne was the Evil Queen. Influenced after Once Upon A Time's Evil Queen Regina, she wore a confident and prideful smirk all day. Her elegance and self proclaimed "bitch face" served her well.

I was dressed as a Gypsy. I'd like to think it embodied my free spirit. and joyful presence. Julienne, Molly and Kristal would have you believe I was a gypsy because I was their servant (Since I drove there, did all their hair, lent them my clothes and because I'm the darkest skinned). You racist jerks haha.

During our visit to the 15th century, we encountered many treasures we wanted to buy including fox tails, pocket watches, wands and perfumes. Julienne and Kristal enjoyed iced chai tea, while Molly and I shared a delicious pile of Ye Ole' Fish and Chips. Sin called to the ladies and I as we were lured to the Ice Cream tent for scoops of mint chip. Though probably not accurate to the times, it was damn good in the 90 degree heat.

We experienced Henna, skeleton parades, the Queens Court, people dressed as fairies, pirates and wizards, and a very cute guy in plaid that we kept running into. (Missed Connections anyone??) We wandered into tents full of wench attire and the most beautiful jewelry. One tent had nothing but tea, where you could smell to your hearts desire, all the different teas they offered. One of which was called XOXO and was definitely my favorite chocolatey scent. While we did miss the Jousting tournament, and the show called "dirty laundry", we did see everything else we wanted to.

The Renaissance Fair was full of intrigue, excitement and temptation, and we can't wait to go back!

*A very special thank you to Cody Leach for helping us along with this process. We would not have been able to do this if it wasn't for him answering all of my texts, lending us a mic, and showing us what to do. We invite you to listen to his podcast Nerds with Friends for some more nerdy fun!*

Podcaster Profile: JULIENNE

Hey listeners, I'm Julienne :) I'm from San Jose, CA and I'm an Interior Design major at San Jose State University. I'm 20 years old (21 this month, October 20th!) and I'm a senior at SJSU. I spend my days designing, reading, drinking tea, squeezing in as many naps as possible, driving from place to place and belting out Disney songs in the car, working at a little wine bar, and always keeping in touch with my best girls, usually discussing a book and planning our next tea party!

I've been a tea & teacup collector for many years, and it has become a huge part of my life. I love hosting tea parties and going out to different tea shops and tea rooms. I'm also a cinephile but have more recently become a bookworm after my fellow podcasters, Kristal and Ashley, and I started our Books To Read lists, which will now never end! We will never cross off all the books!

I'm really excited to start this podcast. Though I cringe upon hearing my recorded voice played back to me, but recording our first podcast was super fun. I love texting these girls all day long about our current book/TV/actor/tea/anything obsessions, and getting to sit down and talk away about that stuff and share it with the world was super fun. We didn't want the podcasting to end! So, pour yourself a steaming cup and join Three For Tea in our extremely nerdy but awesome endeavors!

Podcaster profile: ASHLEY

Hi, I'm Ashley.

I love Disneyland, the SF Giants, ICE CREAM, tea and all things coconut. I am a runner, reader, tea cup collector, dog lover, renaissance faire wench, and aspiring designer.

I am so excited to start this podcast and even more excited to share my knowledge of tea, books and ice cream with you. I am a nerd; I don't deny it. I love books, the MARVEL universe, tea, tea cups, making any kind of craft, nail polish, Parks and Recreation, Law and Order: SVU, Supernatural, The Renaissance Faire; all of it. I believe that being a nerd means you love something so much that you don't care how the world perceives your love for it. It means you are passionate, dedicated, committed to it, and you aren't afraid to show your devotion. I know this podcast will be a way that my fellow Three For Tea podcasters and I can share our fullest devotion of tea and books with you in a way that makes you equally as excited about it.
